Job Summary

Zendesks Foundation Engineering group builds and maintains the platform that every engineer at Zendesk uses to serve our product to over 170,000 global businesses. As a member of this group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of Zendesk Engineering in building agile, reliable, and secure products!

In this role, you will be the founding team lead for a new Foundation Secure team focused on building the software, processes, and infrastructure that enable Zendesk engineers to use and manage AWS efficiently and securely. You will join a dedicated, spirited, and caring group of engineers that are committed to our goals. You will split your time between writing code, planning out roadmaps, and building up a team of engineers ready to tackle the challenges around managing the cloud at scale!



What youll be doing

  • Build and maintain the baseline governance and security standards for AWS infrastructure at Zendesk for all of our AWS accounts.
  • Take ownership of critical services within Foundation Secure, including our services that build and validate our golden images for containers and virtual machines.
  • Collaborate with other Foundation teams to deliver a secure AWS environment for Zendesk engineers to operate within.
  • Own the roadmap for the team aligned with business priorities and the roadmaps of other teams across the company.
  • Coach engineers to help them achieve success, develop their skills, and push them forward in their careers.

What you bring to the role

  • Required:

    • 5+ years of progressive experience in software development, preferably in a SaaS environment operating in the public cloud.
    • Prior leadership experience with responsibility over software engineers.
    • Ability to deliver constructive feedback and set development goals for team members that lead to meaningful changes and growth.
    • In-depth knowledge of the process of developing new services and driving their adoption across an organization.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred:

    • Proficiency in Go and/or Python programming languages.
    • Demonstrated desire to learn new technologies and programming languages as the team and responsibilities evolve over time.
    • Experience building services using AWS Managed Services.
    • AWS cloud governance experience using Organizations, GuardDuty, IAM, Lambda, Cloudtrail, etc.

The Poland annualized base salary range for this position is zł255,000.00-zł383,000.00. Please note that while the salary range represents the minimum and maximum base salary rate for this position, the actual compensation offered will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives that will be communicated during the offer stage.
