About this role

Our Lead User Researcher will work with product, strategy, and design teams to scope, craft, and conduct user research to generate actionable insights that guide the future of the business and ensure our products and services meet the everyday needs of our users. Working alongside leaders and teams alike, they will conduct user research for our most complex journeys and products while also serving as a strong advocate for applied research and user-centered ways of working. As a senior member of the Research team, the Lead User Researcher will largely focus on strategic studies that cross workstreams and teams. In parallel, they will work alongside Research and Strategy leadership to grow and guide the Research team’s culture, ways of working, and approach to ResearchOps.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partner with Research leadership, product managers, designers, and others to scope and lead research, drive decisions, plan experiments, synthesize and communicate findings, and assist in estimating resource needs and schedules
  • Create impactful deliverables that clearly and persuasively communicate your findings, insights and recommendations to teams, leaders, and senior stakeholders - and spur teams to act
  • Manage and mentor more junior researchers in each step of the research process, including study planning, discovery, user research and analysis, synthesis, reporting, communication, and operations
  • Contribute to the creation, adoption and improvement of research practices, methods and guidelines and their consistent deployment across various projects
  • Serve as an advocate for user exposure and for user research as a team sport, empowering peers from all disciplines to center the customer experience in their day to day work
  • Take the lead on collaboration with data analysts to enrich the understanding of our users through the application of mixed methods research
  • Increase the impact of every insight by contributing the results of their work to our research library and serving as an advocate for their peers to do the same

What we’ll expect from you

  • BS or MS in Interaction Design, Cognitive Science, HCI, Anthropology, Psychology, or equivalent experience
  • 5-8 years’ minimum of job related experience planning, conducting, and communicating the findings from user research for digital products and services, ideally with a focus on technical users
  • An excellent ability to understand and articulate user needs, as well as to generate and communicate compelling & actionable insights
  • An expert understanding of the digital product lifecycle and the ability to collaborate successfully with designers, technical & business teams
  • Expert knowledge of an array of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and how to combine them to generate the most actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence leaders as well as peers
  • A preference for running strategic research, with an ability and interest in flexing to tactical studies as needed
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data collection tools, including Qualtrics, Optimal Workshop, and Lookback
  • A proven track record in conducting mixed methods research studies and an ability to demonstrate the impact of research
  • An interest in collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and colleagues from across the organization

The salary range for this role is specific to candidates located within the U.S. and will vary for candidates outside the U.S..
