Principal, Enterprise Architect

Zendesk is a fast-growing cloud-based software company utilizing a broad range of SaaS and PaaS to support the business. With growth comes increased complexity of customers, products, operational flows as well as the need for more automation, streamlined processes and sophisticated analytics for business insights.

We're looking for a seasoned Enterprise Architect who has broad experience designing an architectural vision from conception through implementation for Go To Market (GTM) business groups spanning eCommerce, Marketing, Sales, Support, Partner and Billing teams. This role will be responsible for partnering with Zendesks internal business units and executive sponsors to design, implement and enable GTM initiatives.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain a GTM technology architecture and technical roadmap in alignment with our product, GTM strategy and enterprise architecture standards
  • Partner with business teams simplify processes, technology and operations to enable faster selling motions and expedited time to market for new offerings
  • Work cross functional in defining scope, requirements, performing analysis, connecting the dots and architecting process and systems flows.
  • Propose creative solutions and improvements in alignment with strategic initiatives
  • Develop stakeholder partnerships, taking ownership and supporting delivery
  • Work multi-functionally with multiple IT teams, Zendesks and various business units to orchestrate a vision for integration of all IT components for anticipated acquisitions

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrates proven knowledge of working with teams to understand business strategies and requirements, envision and prioritize business capabilities, assess current state of client business and technology environments, develop target state architecture involving applications, platforms, data, security and infrastructure
  • Develop strategy; as well as write, communicate, facilitate, and present cogently; to and/or for all levels of internal staff and management, documenting effectively, using non-technical business terms and vocabulary that will be clearly understood by all users and co-workers; and, coordinating, facilitating and making presentations
  • 7+ years of enterprise architecture experience with GTM SaaS solutions such as Zendesk, Salesforce, Adobe, Oracle, Gainsight, BigCommerce, Shopify
  • 7+ years working on enterprise business and technology architecture development projects and using EA frameworks and other leading practices
  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies including AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Azure
  • Experience building and maintaining software solutions lasting multiple years
  • Ability to use your dynamic personality and interpersonal skills to clearly communicate "the art of the possible" with project teams, collaborators and executive sponsors
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and have a track record of delivering outstanding work on tight schedules

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to effortlessly switch gears from executive summary view for leadership to hands-on discussion with stakeholders
  • Passion to challenge the status quo and find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas - loves and embraces change
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to be a technology visionary
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, SCRUM)
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, API security, SSO, architecture and implementation
  • Continually scan the environment in a proactive manner to gain perspective on industry trends, leading practices and technology offerings for use in engagements with business.

Preferred Certifications:

  • TOGAF 9 Foundation, Certified
  • Varied SaaS Admin or Architect certifications such as Salesforce, Adobe, AWS, GCP

The US annualized base salary range for this position is $186,000.00-$280,000.00. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives. While this range reflects the minimum and maximum value for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations, the offer for the successful candidate for this position will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other factors such as work location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only (or OTE for commissions based roles), and do not include bonus, benefits, or related incentives.
