7 days agoRemote

Reimagine the infrastructure of cancer care within a community that values integrity, inspires growth, and is uniquely positioned to create a more modern, connected oncology ecosystem.

We're looking for a Senior Health Informaticist to help us accomplish our mission to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. Are you ready to be the next changemaker in cancer care?

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll provide domain expertise to guide the design and implementation of Flatiron's data interoperability capabilities. Your contributions will help to accelerate Flatiron's ability to meet regulatory requirements for OncoEMR and to develop data driven solutions for Community Oncology Practitioners.

This position will be the informatics subject matter expert responsible for building and validating standards-compliant data exchange capabilities, including prioritizing development work and identifying and mitigating areas of uncertainty and risk. In addition, you'll also:

  • Collaborate with other informaticists, clinical subject matter experts, designers, and engineers to improve data flows and data structures to support data exchange requirements
  • Partner with product management to identify interoperability use cases and clarify their value to our practices and patients
  • Identify appropriate strategies to test and validate data exchange capabilities, including data-sensitive functionality and semantic translations
  • Clarify the What and the Why of FHIR and other interoperability standards and their nuances to cross-functional teams, including team leads and implementers
  • Proactively identify and highlight opportunities for informatics involvement early in product development
  • Maintain active involvement in industry groups (EHRA, AMIA, HL7, etc.) to identify emerging best practices and bring to Flatiron opportunities for transformative changes

The Health Informatics team is responsible for improving the integrity and use of patients' health data with a focus on the point of care by leveraging and applying industry standards. Utilizing such standards, the team works from ingestion through the end-user experience to ensure safe, effective, and accurate transmission of healthcare data.

Who You Are

You are an Informaticist with a deep understanding of EHR development, modern healthcare interoperability standards and logical data modeling. You likely have a clinical background with strong technical ability. You are able to work effectively in a highly cross-functional environment. You have a passion for healthcare data, are kind and collaborative, and are excited to help improve and expand data interoperability at an EHR.

  • You have 5+ years of informatics experience, including implementations of standards-based interoperability capabilities, preferably FHIR
  • You have the ability to translate standards and interoperability concepts to an audience of non-informaticists (engineers, clinicians)
  • You have an understanding of healthcare related data elements
  • You understand the industry landscape and challenges, and how interoperability standards are evolving to help address them
  • You have excellent command of technology to allow deep understanding of the lifecycle of data within an EMR environment
  • You are self-motivated and able to identify areas of opportunity and deliver high-value contributions
