Sr Director, Head of Tech Portfolio Management

GEICO is seeking a Sr. Director, Tech Portfolio Management within the CIO organization. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and management of our organization's technology initiatives and projects. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of technology solutions that align with our business objectives

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement portfolio management strategies and processes to effectively prioritize, monitor, and control our portfolio of projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and stakeholders to define portfolio objectives, strategic priorities, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead the selection, evaluation, and approval of projects for inclusion in the portfolio, considering factors such as strategic alignment, resource availability, risk assessment, and financial viability.
  • Monitor and track project performance against established KPIs, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including executive leadership, to understand business needs and align technology initiatives accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Provide regular status updates and reports on technology initiatives to executive leadership.
  • Essential Job Functions:
  • Proven success leading enterprise-wide tech portfolio of 100s of programs.
  • Reputation as someone who engages with team members effectively.
  • Deep understanding of multiple business domains as well as the application ecosystems they depend upon.
  • Constructing, interpreting, and applying metrics to your work and decision making, able to use those metrics to identify correlation between drivers and results, and using that information drive prioritization and action.
  • Initiative and creativity in solving problems and driving innovation through others.
  • Delivery of information in a clear and concise manner appropriate to the audience.
  • Embracing ownership of both successes and failures, demonstrating leadership maturity.
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments distributed across multiple teams and dependency areas.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or M aster's degree in C omputer E ngineering , or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • • 10+ years proven experience in Tech Leadership role.
  • • Strong understanding of technology trends, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
  • • Proven experience building influential and impactful relationships internally and externally to lead and drive change.
  • • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • • Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive, and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment.
  • • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Diplomatic communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence - adept at understanding people, active listening, and serving as a valuable sounding board for others
  • Outstanding communicator, able to present ideas verbally, in writing, formally and informally
  • Ability to collaborate, influence and provide recommendations to drive decision-making and execution
Annual Salary
$195,000.00 - $315,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
